Enter to Win a Free Urban Composter

Urban ComposterOne of the coolest things about being a garden blogger is that I get free stuff. Which sometimes doesn’t seem quite right. I get free stuff just for fretting and philosophizing about plants online. When did the world get that cool? The Scottish part of me is just in free heaven.

Sometimes, I get free stuff and I like it. Sometimes, I get free stuff and… well. It’s not so much bad as it just does not fit in with my lifestyle. The Urban Compost Bin Tumbler was one of those things. Great concept. Great for someone with limited space. Great for someone who is not lazy and forgetful… We were fine up until we got to the lazy and forgetful part..

It just so happened that at the school my kids attend, they had just built a new playground. The new playground also had several raised garden beds. The garden beds were sorely lacking in decent compost. And with that realization, the urban composter went to go live at the school. In the playground. Next to the raised garden beds. My oldest son tells me that they put lunch scraps in it and that the kids take turns turning it.

Child labor. I am quickly discovering that this is a key element to successful gardening.

So this year, I was offered another urban composter. I could take it. I could try it… again. I could once more display my lack of motivation by failing to regularly turn the composter. But where is the fun in that?

I would much rather this lovely composter (with the low, low retail price of $249.95) goes to one of the people who visit my blog (hint, hint – that would be you). So I worked out a deal with Organic-Composter.com and we are going to give one of you a free composter.

So, I have set up an entry form and you can go here to sign up for a chance to win a pretty nifty gadget for your garden.   All I need is your name and email address and you will be entered.   No, I don’t sell or rent or spam email addresses.   I just need some way of getting a hold of you.

I will choose the winner at random after March 31st. You can enter once a day between now and then, so visit often and enter frequently!

  1. Thanks for giving us a chance to win!! Can’t wait for Spring and warmth and green!

  2. Jackie on

Enjoying your blog. Thanks for the chance to win the composter. I resonate with your wish to raise chickens. I’m planning on going to the city council to ask for the right to keep chickens. (I’ve been told that this has worked for other individuals.) Thanks again!

  3. That’s pretty cool! We don’t have need of a composter, either, but I’ll spread the word to some other gardening folk who might want to enter.

You might want to connect with Organic-Composter.com about that. That’s what I got when I clicked the link for the composter. (I was curious about specifications.) I signed up anyway. does it matter where we live? I’m in Oregon.

I noticed that earlier… I am going to wait a day before I panic. To tell the truth, the offer stands regardless of whether the site comes back up. I am certain I can find a new sponsor.

  6. How cool are you! I think composting should be a requirement for everyone.

I need a composter, we have pure sand, thanks to a prehistoric ocean. I like the look of this one, it looks like a cannon. Although I am lazy, I can muster the energy to turn this one, and I have a resident grandson who can help. See you tomorrow!!!

  8. Tamara on

Boys will die if I win this. It looks like they could shoot each other out of it.

  9. Patricia on

Cool! I’ve been needing a composter but couldn’t afford a nice one. Thanks for sending the possibility in your readers’ direction. Good luck to all!

  10. I have one and it works great!

Good on you for passing around the compost love.

  11. tory on

this looks thoroughly rat proof — a necessity in this city. I would love to win this!

  12. PS: The free stuff only works if you allow them to post stuff I take it and people ‘know’ you.

I get only free encouragement but hey that’s nice too.

Child labour is a great idea if only my kids were more properly trained in the proper labouring techniques. Now having them work in the garden creates more work but in a few years…

Ok, since the other sponsor has up and disappeared, I found another one. The manufacturer has agreed to sponsor the giveaway if I added a page to my site to advertise and sell the item. So, we are back in business. Good luck to everyone! Remember, you can enter once a day.

  14. Count me in! Oh how the garden would love me.. And the neighbors… And my husband… Since this composter looks much nicer then the small kennel I made into a temporary fix. I could even put this one by the deck so i do not have far to wander with the kitchen waste I share between chickens and the bin.I’ll be back to enter again!
